Job summary

Barkside Lodge in Lenoir City, TN is hiring part-time Kennel Technicians to care for dogs on a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays. Roles involve kennel duties, enrichment, and safe dog supervision.

We offer 4-hour and 8-hour shifts, a supportive team culture, and opportunities to gain hands-on experience while pursuing veterinary education at UT College of Veterinary Medicine.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of kennel, dog daycare, boarding, or animal care experience.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to stay active during shifts (standing, walking, lifting, cleaning).

Responsibilities

• Monitor the health, comfort, and well-being of dogs in care.
• Clean and sanitize kennels, play areas, and common spaces.
• Supervise group play and ensure safe interactions between dogs.
• Lead engaging play sessions and provide daily enrichment.
• Provide fresh water and report health concerns.
• Follow safety procedures and maintain a clean facility.
• Deliver exceptional care and customer service to pet parents.

This is also a great opportunity for University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine students looking to gain valuable hands‑on experience working with dogs while pursuing their veterinary education.

We offer flexible scheduling options for both full‑time and part‑time team members, including 4‑hour and 8‑hour shifts throughout the week and on weekends. When possible, we'll work with your availability and school schedule to help create a schedule that fits your commitments.

Schedule

What You'll Do

As a Dog Kennel Technician, you'll play an important role in keeping our canine guests healthy, happy, and safe. Responsibilities include:

• Follow safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized facility
• Deliver exceptional care and outstanding customer service to pet parents

What We're Looking For

To be successful in this role, you should have:

• At least 1 year of kennel, dog daycare, boarding, or animal care experience
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Strong knowledge of dog behavior, body language, and breed characteristics
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to stay active throughout the shift, including standing, walking, lifting, cleaning, and working with dogs of all sizes
• Availability to work weekends, holidays, and maintain open weekday availability
