Job summary

Ideal Veterinary Hospital in Oak Ridge, TN, is seeking a Kennel Assistant to care for patients visiting for grooming or boarding. You will admit patients, note instructions, and ensure a quality outcome with proper contact info and pickup time.

You will clean kennels, walk dogs, feed, administer medication under supervision, and help maintain a safe, comfortable environment. Weekend availability and prior veterinary experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• Weekend work may be required.
• Previous veterinary experience preferred.
• Ability to lift patients up to 25 pounds; with assistance for heavier loads.
• OC SOP PPE safety practices must be followed.

Responsibilities

• Provides care for patients visiting for grooming and boarding.
• Admits patients with instructions and notes contact and pickup times.
• Records feeding schedules, appearance and behavior during visits.
• Observes general condition for signs of illness or distress.
• Properly restrains difficult patients when needed.
• Walks patients several times daily for exercise and elimination.
• Gives special food/liquids as required.
• Ensures cleanliness of cages, kennels, and areas; washes bowls.
• Ensures items are stored and identified; performs general upkeep.
