Job summary

SPCA Westchester, Inc. is seeking a Programs Specialist to lead the Dog Day Out program and enhance volunteer engagement. You will create engaging animal bios, photos, and adoption materials while coordinating with shelter staff and volunteers to promote positive outcomes for dogs and adopters.

You will work with behavior teams, manage community outreach, and collaborate with marketing to raise adoption visibility in the community.

Qualifications

• Prior experience with dogs or dog-related services preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication for volunteers and staff.
• Strong organizational skills to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Experience in program coordination or community outreach is a plus.
• Comfort with basic computer systems and scheduling platforms.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operation and growth of the Dog Day Out program, including applications, onboarding, scheduling, dog assignments, and follow-up.
• Match dogs with volunteers based on needs and skills and coordinate releases/returns with staff.
• Maintain program records, monitor participation, and use data to identify improvements.
• Create engaging animal bios, photos, videos, and adoption materials for online and in-shelter use.
• Collaborate with Marketing to improve adoption visibility and outreach.
