Job summary

Burns & McDonnell is seeking a DOE Construction Section Manager to lead a team delivering federal and private infrastructure projects in the United States, including labs and secure facilities. Based in Norfolk and other locations, you will drive strategy, staffing, and operational excellence.

You will oversee CIP programs, coordinate with agencies and clients, and ensure safety, quality, schedule, and budget adherence while growing the practice in Aviation & Federal construction.

Qualifications

• Bachelor Degree in engineering, architecture, construction, or related field with 10 years related professional experience.
• Experience in progressive design-build construction delivery.
• Leadership and/or management experience.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to influence, lead, and manage change.
• Strong project management skills and a strategic perspective.
• Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and direction to a team of DOE construction project managers.
• Lead growth and performance of the construction section, ensuring staffing and resource allocation.
• Oversee planning and execution of capital improvement programs (CIP) and federal projects.
• Ensure delivery across all phases of planning, procurement, construction, commissioning, and closeout.
• Coordinate with owners, agencies, and clients to minimize operational impacts.
• Develop and maintain relationships with qualified subcontractors and partners.
• Collaborate with engineering, construction, and client teams for integrated delivery.
