Job summary

JFL Consulting LLC seeks a Cyber Defense/Network Security Engineer to support secure government environments from an on-site role in Springfield, VA. Key responsibilities include configuring rack-mounted hardware, applying system hardening, and monitoring with advanced tooling.

Qualifications

• Top-tier DoD cyber defense/IA experience required.

Responsibilities

• Configure and maintain on-site servers, storage, and networking hardware within secure environments.
• Manage Linux/Windows infrastructure: deployment, configuration, and operational support.
• Build and administer virtual environments with Proxmox, VMware ESXi, and Hyper-V.
• Support security monitoring with Security Onion, Zeek, Suricata, Wazuh, Splunk and Elastic Stack.
• Align infrastructure with RMF and STIGs for DoD compliance.
• Install, harden, patch, log, and backup systems across physical and virtual layers.
• Automate configuration and deployment tasks with Bash, Python, or PowerShell.
• Assist with security audits, incident response, and continuous compliance.
