Job summary

Quantum Sky is seeking a Network Specialist to support the DoD DHA LAN/WAN at Mountain Home AFB, ID. The role ensures on-site troubleshooting and problem resolution to provide required services across the network campus.

Responsibilities include operating core/edge switches, routers, firewalls, and VPNs, plus upgrades planning and security compliance per DoD standards. Strong communication and DoD/networking experience are valued.

Qualifications

• OSI model layers 1-3 and related protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).
• Familiar with firewall and VPN technologies.
• Experience maintaining switches/routers and troubleshooting LAN/WAN.
• Knowledge of security methodologies.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Bachelors in a technical discipline with 3+ years of related experience, or a technical cert with 8+ years.
• Compliance with DoD Directive 8570.01 information assurance training/certification.
• Security+ CE certification required.
• CCNA or Juniper/Brocade equivalent preferred.
• DoD/medical network experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides daily operational support for LAN core and edge switches.
• Resolves network issues across OSI model using diagnostic tools.
• Supports routing/switching gear, firewalls, and cabling.
• Plans, installs, and supports hardware/software upgrades and upgrades-related issues.
