Job summary

SMX seeks a Network Administrator to support NAVAIR at Patuxent River, MD. This mid-level role covers enterprise networking, boundary services, cybersecurity compliance, and modernization in a large DoD environment.

The candidate will work 2-3 days onsite weekly at Patuxent River, MD, expanding experience with Cisco, F5, and cloud modernization while collaborating with engineering and operations teams.

Qualifications

• DoD 8570/8140 IAT Level II compliant certification or equivalent
• 3+ years of experience supporting DoD network infrastructure
• Experience with Cisco devices and IP networking in enterprise environments
• Familiarity with DoD cybersecurity practices including STIGs
• Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills
• Ability to work independently with technical teams and customers

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot LAN, WAN, and application connectivity and performance issues
• Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Cisco switches/routers and network devices
• Manage F5 BIG-IP devices and load balancing services
• Deploy new network devices per approved designs
• Support highly available network architectures and traffic management
• Maintain boundary security infrastructure for NAVAIR sites
• Collaborate with IA, PM teams to investigate security incidents
• Support PKI enablement and cloud migration initiatives
• Review STIGs and remediate vulnerabilities
• Create and maintain network diagrams, SOPs, and documentation
