Job summary

Intelligent Waves seeks an Information System Security Officer (ISSO) to support DoD programs, ensuring security posture across SAP, SCI, and collateral environments. You will work closely with the ISSM, ISSE, and ISO to manage security operations, documentation, and continuous monitoring.

This role requires TS/SCI clearance readiness and on-site work at one location with up to 50% travel. If you’re detail-oriented and adept at communicating security requirements, this is your position.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or four years of additional relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
• Five or more years of ISSO or equivalent information assurance experience.
• Working knowledge of the RMF and the system authorization process.
• Demonstrated experience developing and maintaining authorization documentation.
• Ability to communicate security requirements clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Assist the ISSM in executing information system security duties and responsibilities.
• Prepare, review, and update system authorization packages.
• Maintain security control documentation and continuous monitoring artifacts per RMF/JSIG.
• Track and manage POA&M through closure.
• Conduct continuous monitoring activities for authorization boundaries.
• Perform security impact assessments and coordinate changes with ISSM/AO/DAO prior to implementation.
• Conduct periodic reviews to verify compliance with the authorization package.
• Support STIG compliance, vulnerability scanning, and remediation coordination.
• Notify the ISSM of changes affecting authorization determinations.
• Ensure procedures for clearing, sanitizing, destroying hardware/media are in place.
• Ensure audit records are collected, reviewed, and documented.
• Monitor recovery processes to ensure security features are restored.
• Ensure security documentation is current and accessible.
• Execute cybersecurity self-inspection and review system assessment plans.
• Identify vulnerabilities and assist with countermeasures.
• Support incident handling, containment, and reporting with the ISSM.
• Prepare reports on security safeguards status.
• Perform ISSO duties for in-house and external customers.
• Assist DoD/national agencies with A&A efforts.
• Attend required technical/security training.
