Job summary

XPO in Henderson, CO is seeking a Dockworker (Hostler) to move trailers, operate forklifts and pallet jacks, and support loading and unloading operations. You’ll work across shifts, including days, evenings, nights and weekends.

You’ll be paid $26.36 to $31.97 per hour with full health insurance from day one, life and disability coverage, PTO, holidays, a 401(k) match, and an employee stock purchase plan.

Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license.
• Able to do basic math calculations, with and without a calculator.
• Pass a company-paid, pre-hire test.

Responsibilities

• Move trailers throughout the property.

• Load freight at least 1 day per week.
• Operate a hostler in all types of weather; stand for extended periods.
• Safely operate heavy equipment and connect/disconnect a dolly.
• Work safely following company policies and scan shipments with handheld devices.

What you’ll need to succeed as a Dockworker (Hostler) at XPO

• Be at least 18 years of age
• A valid driver’s license
• Able to do basic math calculations, with and without a calculator
• To pass a company-paid, post-offer, pre-hire (physical essential functions) test
• Available to work a variety of shifts due to varying freight volumes, including days, evenings, nights and weekends

Preferred qualifications:

• Dock/warehouse experience in the transportation industry
• Forklift experience in a freight/less-than-truckload environment
• Experience loading and unloading trailers
• Basic written and verbal communication skills
• Desire to succeed with strong attention to detail

About the Dockworker (Hostler) job

Pay, benefits and more:

• Expected pay range: $26.36 to $31.97 per hour. Pay is on an annual step progression. Actual compensation may vary due to factors such as experience and skill set.

What you’ll do on a typical day:

• Move trailers throughout the property
• Use appropriate motorized and manual equipment, including pallet jack and forklift
• Efficiently load freight a minimum of 1 day per week
• Operate a hostler in all types of weather; safely walk and stand for extended periods
• Safely operate heavy equipment, including moving, positioning and connecting/disconnecting a converter dolly with an average weight/pull force of approximately 128 lbs.
• Work in a safe, efficient manner while adhering to company safety policies
• Use mobile handheld devices to scan and track shipments

Dockworker (Hostler)s are required to:

• Lift objects of various shapes, sizes and weights to 50 lbs. frequently and greater than 70 lbs. occasionally
• Reach (including above your head), bend, climb, push, pull, twist, squat and kneel
• Walk and stand for extended periods on a loading dock that is not climate-controlled and may be slippery
