Job summary

XPO Logistics, Inc. is hiring a Dockworker (Hostler) to move trailers across the yard, operate pallet jacks and forklifts, and load freight throughout shifts that may include days, evenings, nights, and weekends.

The role requires safety awareness and the ability to work on a busy dock. Compensation ranges from $26.36 to $31.97 per hour with a company-paid health plan from day one, plus life/disability coverage, PTO, holidays, a 401(k) match, stock purchase plan, education assistance, and more.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Move trailers throughout the property
• Operate pallet jack and forklift as required
• Load freight at least once per week
• Operate a hostler in all weather conditions and stand for extended periods
• Safely move heavy equipment with an average pull of ~128 lbs
• Follow safety policies and use mobile devices to scan shipments

What you’ll need to succeed as a Dockworker (Hostler) at XPO

• Be at least 18 years of age
• A valid driver’s license
• Able to do basic math calculations, with and without a calculator
• To pass a company-paid, post-offer, pre-hire (physical essential functions) test
• Available to work a variety of shifts due to varying freight volumes, including days, evenings, nights and weekends

Preferred qualifications:

• Dock/warehouse experience in the transportation industry
• Forklift experience in a freight/less-than-truckload environment
• Experience loading and unloading trailers
• Basic written and verbal communication skillsDesire to succeed with strong attention to detail

About the Dockworker (Hostler) job

Pay, benefits and more:

• Expected pay range: $26.36 to $31.97 per hour. Pay is on an annual step progression. Actual compensation may vary due to factors such as experience and skill set.

What you’ll do on a typical day:

• Move trailers throughout the property
• Use appropriate motorized and manual equipment, including pallet jack and forklift
• Efficiently load freight a minimum of 1 day per week
• Operate a hostler in all types of weather; safely walk and stand for extended periods
• Safely operate heavy equipment, including moving, positioning and connecting/disconnecting a converter dolly with an average weight/pull force of approximately 128 lbs.
• Work in a safe, efficient manner while adhering to company safety policies
• Use mobile handheld devices to scan and track shipments

Dockworker (Hostler)s are required to:

• Lift objects of various shapes, sizes and weights to 50 lbs. frequently and greater than 70 lbs. occasionally
• Reach (including above your head), bend, climb, push, pull, twist, squat and kneel
• Walk and stand for extended periods on a loading dock that is not climate-controlled and may be slippery
