Job summary

XPO is seeking a Dockworker (Hostler) in Morrisville, NC to move trailers, operate a hostler and forklift, and help load freight across shifts, including days, evenings, nights and weekends.

You will follow safety policies, use pallet jacks, scan shipments, and perform physically demanding tasks on a busy dock. This role includes health insurance from day one, a 401(k) with company match, PTO and stock purchase opportunities within a global logistics leader.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Must hold a valid driver's license.
• Ability to perform basic math, with or without a calculator.
• Must pass company-paid pre-hire (physical essential functions) test.
• Available to work varied shifts, including days, evenings, nights and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Move trailers throughout the property.
• Use pallet jack and forklift and other equipment.
• Load freight at least one day per week.
• Operate a hostler in all weather; walk and stand for extended periods.
• Safely move heavy equipment, including a converter dolly (~128 lbs).
• Follow safety policies to work in a safe, efficient manner.
• Scan and track shipments with handheld devices.

What you'll need to succeed as a Dockworker (Hostler) at XPO

• Be at least 18 years of age
• A valid driver's license
• Able to do basic math calculations, with and without a calculator
• To pass a company-paid, post-offer, pre-hire (physical essential functions) test
• Available to work a variety of shifts due to varying freight volumes, including days, evenings, nights and weekends

Preferred qualifications:

• Dock/warehouse experience in the transportation industry
• Forklift experience in a freight/less-than-truckload environment
• Experience loading and unloading trailers
• Basic written and verbal communication skills
• Desire to succeed with strong attention to detail

What you'll do on a typical day:

• Move trailers throughout the property
• Use appropriate motorized and manual equipment, including pallet jack and forklift
• Efficiently load freight a minimum of 1 day per week
• Operate a hostler in all types of weather; safely walk and stand for extended periods
• Safely operate heavy equipment, including moving, positioning and connecting/disconnecting a converter dolly with an average weight/pull force of approximately 128 lbs.
• Work in a safe, efficient manner while adhering to company safety policies
• Use mobile handheld devices to scan and track shipments

Dockworker (Hostler)s are required to:

• Lift objects of various shapes, sizes and weights to 50 lbs. frequently and greater than 70 lbs. occasionally
• Reach (including above your head), bend, climb, push, pull, twist, squat and kneel
• Walk and stand for extended periods on a loading dock that is not climate-controlled and may be slippery
