XPO Logistics, Inc. in Columbus, OH is seeking a Dockworker (Hostler) to move trailers, operate forklifts and pallet jacks, and support loading activities on a fast-paced dock.

The role requires lifting, climbing, and working outdoors in various weather, with a schedule that may include long shifts, evenings, overnight, weekends, and holidays. Training provided and safety is emphasized.

Qualifications

• Be at least 18 years of age.
• A valid driver’s license.
• Able to do basic math calculations, with and without a calculator.
• To pass a company-paid, post-offer, pre-hire (physical essential functions) test.
• Available to work a flexible schedule that’s up to 12-14 hours a day, including days, evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Move trailers throughout the property
• Use appropriate motorized and manual equipment, including pallet jack and forklift
• Efficiently load freight a minimum of 1 day per week
• Operate a hostler in all types of weather; safely walk and stand for extended periods
• Safely operate heavy equipment, including moving, positioning and connecting/disconnecting a converter dolly with an average weight/pull force of approximately 128 lbs.
• Work in a safe, efficient manner while adhering to company safety policies
• Use mobile handheld devices to scan and track shipments

What you’ll need to succeed as a Dockworker (Hostler) at XPO

About the Dockworker (Hostler) job

Pay, benefits and more:

• Expected pay range: $24.83 to $30.13 per hour. Pay is on an annual step progression. Actual compensation may vary due to factors such as experience and skill set.

Dockworker (Hostler)s are required to:

• Lift objects of various shapes, sizes and weights to 50 lbs. frequently and greater than 70 lbs. occasionally
• Reach (including above your head), bend, climb, push, pull, twist, squat and kneel
• Walk and stand for extended periods on a loading dock that is not climate-controlled and may be slippery
