Job summary

Saia is a logistics and transportation company seeking a dock-friendly candidate to sort and handle freight in and out of over-the-road equipment, containers, city trailers, and straight trucks. You will operate forklifts and pallet jacks to load and unload freight, ensuring safe and compliant handling.

Key responsibilities include loading and unloading trailers, securing shipments, verifying labels, maintaining safety, and following procedures to support timely, cost-efficient deliveries.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Warehouse, freight, dock, forklift, or pallet jack experience.
• Forklift certification or hazmat training.
• Ability to lift and move objects of various shapes, sizes, and weights.

Responsibilities

• Loads and unloads trailers using forklifts and pallet jacks in compliance with regulations.
• Operates dock tools to secure freight and maintain straps, bars, airbags, and dunnage.
• Loads, recoups, rewraps, and stacks freight as needed.
• Verifies shipments by reading labels and securing freight for loading/unloading.
• Follows bill and quality control procedures to ensure timely, cost-efficient shipments.
• Logs, reports, and processes shortages and damages to freight.
• Promotes and maintains a safe and clean work environment.
