Job summary

Saia LTL Freight is seeking a dockworker to sort and handle freight in and out of over-the-road equipment, containers, city trailers, and straight trucks. The role operates forklifts and pallet jacks to load and unload freight, ensuring compliance with safety standards and DOT regulations.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Authorized to work in the United States.
• Read, write, and understand English to perform shipping duties.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload trailers using forklifts, pallet jacks, and other equipment in compliance with regulations.
• Operate dock tools to secure freight and maintain straps, bars, and dunnage.
• Load, recoup, rewrap, and stack freight as needed.
• Verify shipments by reading labels and securing freight for loading/unloading.
• Follow bill and quality control procedures to ensure timely and cost-efficient shipments.
• Log, report, and process any shortages and damages to freight.
• Promote and maintain a safe and clean work environment.
