Job summary

Saia is a logistics and transportation company seeking a dockworker to sort and handle freight in and out of over-the-road equipment, containers, city trailers, and straight trucks. You will operate forklifts and pallet jacks to load and unload freight.

You will load, recoup, rewrap, and stack freight, verify shipments, and follow quality control procedures to ensure timely, claims-free shipments while maintaining a safe, clean work environment. Competitive hourly pay and benefits are offered.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Experience in warehouse, freight, dock, forklift, or pallet jack.
• Forklift certification or hazmat training preferred.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload trailers using forklifts, pallet jacks, and related equipment.
• Operate dock tools; maintain straps, bars, air bags, cardboard, and dunnage.
• Load, recoup, rewrap, and stack freight as needed.
• Verify shipments by reading labels and securing freight for loading/unloading.
• Follow bill and quality control procedures for timely, cost-efficient shipments.
• Log, report, and process shortages and damages to freight.
• Promote and maintain a safe and clean work environment.
