Job summary

Pero Family Farms in Benton Harbor, MI is seeking a Dock Lead to supervise shipping and receiving on the dock, coordinate forklift operations, and support loading and unloading of inbound and outbound trucks. The role reports to the Shipping and Receiving Assistant Manager and requires availability for AM/PM shifts.

You will train new dock staff, manage palletizing and staging, ensure GMPs and USDA/DOL guidelines, and maintain safety by enforcing PPE and equipment use.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or greater.
• 2+ years of Dock Experience preferred.
• Lift and carry weight up to 25 pounds with frequency.
• Occasional bending, kneeling, crouching, and stooping.
• Frequent standing.
• Knowledge of operating warehouse equipment.
• Knowledge of Spanish language preferred.
• Knowledge of Forklift and Computer Systems preferred.
• Basic mathematical and literacy skills.
• Good communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead dock operations – receiving or outbound.
• Train new employees in receiving and/or outbound processes.
• Lead team in handling incoming freight.
• Coordinate dock door assignments based on Priority Load List.
• Prepare cartons for QC to inspect product weights.
• Coordinate shipment and pallet staging/wrapping.
• Direct loading/unloading of palletized produce from trailers.
• Rotate product per QA/Inventory instructions.
• Assist forklift drivers and stackers as needed.
• Operate forklifts and electric pallet jacks (with training).
• Coordinate warehouse cleaning at end of shift.
• Monitor PPE compliance and GMP/USDA/DOL standards.
• Enforce safety procedures on the dock floor.
