Job summary

FedEx Freight in Bolingbrook, IL, is seeking a warehouse dock worker to transport freight between docks and trailers, utilizing forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks. The role requires physical endurance and accuracy in documentation.

Responsibilities include securing freight in trailers, reconciling paperwork, assisting customers with freight documents, and performing hostling duties when needed. Hours vary; starting rate and range are posted.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Prior warehousing, freight handling and/or forklift experience preferred.
• Hostler/yard mule duties experience preferred.
• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to lift/carry hand freight of varying weights several times a week, to lift dock plates weighing ~100 pounds, and to open trailer doors requiring ~75 pounds of lift force, up to several times per day.
• Ability to bend, twist, squat, push/pull freight throughout shift.
• Ability to work independently and/or as part of a team.
• Previous dock/warehouse experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Transport freight across dock area to/from trailers for loading to trailers.
• Verify freight description matches documentation (type, weight, hazardous materials) in current system.
• Secure freight inside trailers using pallets, straps, rope.
• Recoup/repair damaged freight when necessary.
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports.
• Assist customers with freight and freight documentation as needed.
• Perform hostling duties if required.
• Comply with laws, regulations and company policies.
• Perform additional duties as required.
