Job summary

South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) seeks a forensic DNA/serology analyst to perform laboratory analyses and prepare court-ready reports. You will work on evidence from law enforcement agencies and provide expert testimony when required.

The role requires a Class III commissioned officer, a relevant degree, and ability to train others. Occasional after-hours and travel may be required in service of public safety.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in biological/chemical/forensic science required.
• Ability to analyze evidence, interpret findings, and prepare scientific reports.
• Must complete a prescribed legal training course at SCCJA.
• Understanding of forensic DNA analysis and DNA interpretation.

Responsibilities

• Conduct serological and DNA analyses on evidence.
• Provide written reports and expert testimony in courts.
• Represent SLED in a professional manner as a Class III officer.
• Receive and preserve evidence with chain of custody.
