Job summary

Arup in Washington, DC seeks a DMV Water Leader to drive growth of the water practice across DMV with strong ties to NYC offices. You will combine deep engineering credibility with client trust to develop long-term partnerships.

With 15+ years in water engineering, you will lead multidisciplinary teams on stormwater, flood risk, and water infrastructure projects, mentor staff, and pursue major public-sector opportunities while advancing sustainable solutions.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of water engineering, advisory, infrastructure, or climate/resilience work.
• PE licensed in the U.S.
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, or related discipline (Master’s preferred).
• Experience with utilities, municipalities, and public agencies in the DMV.

Responsibilities

• Create and action a plan to build and develop a high-performing water team based in the DC office.
• Mentor emerging technical and water engineering professionals.
• Create a collaborative and inclusive work environment with innovation and knowledge sharing.
• Serve as a trusted advisor to major public-sector and institutional water clients in the DMV region.
• Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the water sector.
• Apply strong commercial and risk judgment to pursuits and delivery.
• Lead multidisciplinary teams on water projects from feasibility through commissioning.
• Champion innovative and sustainable water solutions.
