Job Duties

The Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles is looking to hire a Vulnerable Road User Program Manager, in our Highway Safety Office!
The Vulnerable Road User Program Manager has the opportunity to help shape how Virginia protects pedestrians, bicyclists and mature drivers and to turn bold ideas into strategies that save lives. This position leads the development, implementation and continuous improvement of the Commonwealth’s vulnerable road user safety strategy, using data, research and community insight to identify emerging risks, establish priorities and invest resources where they can make the greatest difference.
The Program Manager brings that strategy to life through innovative programs and projects at the state, regional and local levels. The Vulnerable Road User Program Manager also measures progress, evaluates outcomes and uses lessons learned to strengthen future efforts. The position provides strategic guidance and technical assistance to federal grant subrecipients, resolves programmatic challenges and ensures grant activities and expenditures comply with federal, state and agency requirements. This is a highly collaborative role for someone who wants to lead a consequential statewide program and see their ideas translated into measurable improvements on Virginia’s roadways.
