Job summary

South Carolina DMV in the Midlands region seeks a Temporary Titling & Licensing Specialist. This temporary role supports multiple offices in the Midlands area and involves processing driver licenses, vehicle registrations, titles, and related documents.

You will verify applicant information, perform name/address edits, handle payments, and assist customers in person, by phone, or email. Familiarity with Phoenix System and SCDMV policies is helpful; a high school diploma and background check are

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and clerical experience.
• Background check to include fingerprints prior to CDL testing.
• Formal CDL test examiner trainer course and examination experience helpful.

Responsibilities

• Examines, accepts, prepares, enters and prints documents for licenses, permits, IDs, registrations, titles and related items.
• Edits customer name and address fields as needed.
• Manages licensing needs for banks, lienholders and dealerships.
• Processes motor vehicle registration requests and issues licenses.
• Determines service eligibility per SC laws and DMV policies.
• Answers inquiries via phone, email, or in writing; greets customers.
• Operates camera, SCDMV software, and equipment to issue credentials.
• Administers knowledge tests for licenses (Class A–G and CDL).
• Verifies eye screenings and reviews applications for fraud and license restrictions.
• Processes motor voter applications and donor fund contributions.
• Handles vehicle tax calculations and receipts; reconciles daily reports.
• Maintains payments by cash, card, check or money order; keeps records.
• Performs duties including IRP/IFTA, LiveScan and related tasks as needed.
