Job summary

Sanford Health is seeking a DME coordinator to provide first-line communication with patients and clinicians to facilitate ordering and delivery of durable medical equipment. The role covers intake, product selection, dispensing, documentation, billing, and compliance, with a focus on timely processing of patient information and payer requirements.

You will educate patients on insurance provisions, assist with product selection, and convey fitting and usage instructions.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Strong knowledge of computer functions and basic Microsoft Office applications.
• Detail oriented with excellent documentation skills and ability to follow through to the end.
• Must have a current valid driver's license and meet Sanford Health Category III driver requirements.

Responsibilities

• Provide first-line communication with patients, referral sources, and clinicians to facilitate ordering and delivery of DME products, supplies and services.
• Process patient information accurately to enhance satisfaction and revenue; handle inquiries/orders via in person, phone, fax, or email.
• Gather required documentation for payer requirements, SOPs, and compliance; obtain prior authorizations as needed.
• Educate patients on insurance plans and financial responsibilities; assist with product selection and fitting.
• Input demographics and ordering information into the system; ensure accuracy of sale orders and delivery tickets.
• Explain product use and care; provide resources and materials to patients; complete paperwork and verify delivery tickets.
• Balance cash drawer and assist in maintaining a clean, stocked store; may work after hours in on-call capacity.
