Job summary

Diagnostic Laboratory of Oklahoma (DLO) in Lawton, OK is seeking a phlebotomist to collect blood and urine specimens and enter patient data into the Care 360 system. You will perform venipuncture with venipuncture devices, maintain accuracy, and support a respectful team environment.

The role requires flexibility in schedule, willingness to travel to different locations if needed, and the ability to lift up to 40 lbs. Training provided; excellent patient interaction is essential.

Qualifications

  • Required Knowledge: Demonstrated knowledge of venipuncture techniques utilizing vacutainer needles and hubs, butterfly devices, safety needles, and syringes.
  • Required Experience: Blood collection from patients of all ages; high patient volume; strong interpersonal skills; data entry proficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Collect specimens according to established procedures, including drug screen.
  • Collect blood and urine specimens using approved techniques.
  • Accession patient and test information into the Care 360 system.
  • Process and prepare all specimen types for testing.
  • Obtain billing information from patients and ICD-10 data from clients.
  • Communicate clearly with internal teams, patients, and external customers.

Job Description

Diagnostic Laboratory of Oklahoma (DLO)

Location: Lawton, OK

Hours: Monday-Friday 8am-5pm

Essential Functions:
  • Report to work on time and prepared for each scheduled shift
  • Perform all assigned duties and processes, including tasks for which you are fully qualified and those within your demonstrated capabilities
  • Maintain a positive, professional, and supportive attitude throughout the workday
  • Work collaboratively as a team member and contribute to a respectful, productive work environment
Responsibilities:
  • Collect specimens according to established procedures. This includes, but not limited to: drug screen
  • Collect blood and urine specimens using approved techniques and equipment
  • Accession patient and test information accurately into the Care 360 system
  • Process and prepare all types of specimens for testing
  • Obtain billing information from patients and ICD-10 diagnosis information from clients, as needed
  • Communicate clearly, courteously, and professionally with internal teams, patients, and external customers
Qualifications:

Required Knowledge: Demonstrated knowledge of venipuncture techniques utilizing vacutainer needles and hubs, butterfly devices, safety needles, and syringes.

Required Experience:

  • Proven ability to collect blood specimens from patients of all age groups, including pediatric and geriatric populations
  • Ability to manage a high patient volume efficiently while maintaining accuracy and quality standards
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with all DLO departments and clients
  • Proficiency in basic computer use, including keyboarding and data entry

Special Requirements:

  • Flexibility with your schedule — you may occasionally need to start early or stay late to meet patient or client needs
  • Will ingness to travel or work at different locations if business needs change
  • Ability to lift and carry light to moderately heavy items (up to 40 lbs occasionally, with help for anything heavier)
  • Comfortable sitting or standing for extended periods of time
  • Ability to perform hands-on, repetitive tasks throughout the day with good attention to detail
  • Comfortable using a computer and phone regularly
  • Good hand coordination and steady movements
  • Ability to move throughout the day, including walking, bending, reaching, twisting, pushing, and pulling
