Job summary

Quest Diagnostics in Elk City, OK is seeking a focused Laboratory Assistant/Phlebotomist to collect blood samples and process specimens in a fast-paced diagnostic setting. You will perform venipuncture, ensure proper specimen handling, and enter data into the Care 360 system with accuracy.

Hours are Monday-Thursday, 8am-5pm, and you will work in a collaborative team environment to support patient care and quality outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Collect specimens according to established procedures, including drug screens.
  • Collect blood and urine specimens using approved techniques and equipment.
  • Accession patient and test information into the Care 360 system accurately.
  • Process and prepare all types of specimens for testing.
  • Obtain billing information and ICD-10 data as needed.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with internal teams, patients, and clients.

Location: Elk City, OK

Hours: Monday-Thursday 8am-5pm

Essential Functions
  • Report to work on time and prepared for each scheduled shift

Responsibilities
  • Collect specimens according to established procedures. This includes, but not limited to: drug screen
  • Collect blood and urine specimens using approved techniques and equipment
  • Accession patient and test information accurately into the Care 360 system
  • Process and prepare all types of specimens for testing
  • Obtain billing information from patients and ICD-10 diagnosis information from clients, as needed
  • Communicate clearly, courteously, and professionally with internal teams, patients, and external customers
Qualifications
  • Required Knowledge: Demonstrated knowledge of venipuncture techniques utilizing vacutainer needles and hubs, butterfly devices, safety needles, and syringes.
Required Experience
  • Proven ability to collect blood specimens from patients of all age groups, including pediatric and geriatric populations
  • Ability to manage a high patient volume efficiently while maintaining accuracy and quality standards
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with all DLO departments and clients
  • Proficiency in basic computer use, including keyboarding and data entry
Special Requirements
  • Flexibility with your schedule - you may occasionally need to start early or stay late to meet patient or client needs
  • Willingness to travel or work at different locations if business needs change
  • Ability to lift and carry light to moderately heavy items (up to 40 lbs occasionally, with help for anything heavier)
  • Comfortable sitting or standing for extended periods of time
  • Ability to perform hands‑on, repetitive tasks throughout the day with good attention to detail
  • Comfortable using a computer and phone regularly
  • Good hand coordination and steady movements
  • Ability to move throughout the day, including walking, bending, reaching, twisting, pushing, and pulling
