Job summary

County of Chester is seeking a District Justice Clerk I to provide clerical support, process court documents and schedule hearings. You will assist the District Justice in court procedures and manage a busy front desk with excellent customer service.

The role requires basic math, data entry and strong organizational skills. A high school diploma or GED is required, with 6 months to 1 year of related experience. Proficiency in Word/Excel/Outlook is preferred.

  • Create reports and/or lists as required.
  • Perform clerical functions, as needed (type, fax, copy, etc.).
  • Customer Service (answer phones, wait on customers at counter).
  • Maintain file system.
  • Order and maintain supplies.
  • Perform other duties, tasks and special projects, as required.

  • Schedule hearings and record depositions at hearings.
  • Collect, record, balance and deposit payments.

  • Knowledge of vehicle laws and regulations.
  • Able to work as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of standard district court procedures and policies
  • Able to provide procedural information without providing legal advice.
  • Ability to follow AOPC processing guidelines.
  • Knowledge of Crimes Code.
