Job summary

Divisional Controller role in a $100 million construction division requires a hands-on finance leader with CPA credentials and 8–10 years of accounting experience. Responsibilities include leading all financial reporting, construction accounting, POC revenue recognition, WIP management, and project-level costing.

The position partners with operations leadership to monitor performance, improve margins, and guide budgeting, forecasting, and internal controls within a growing organization.

Qualifications

• Active CPA license required.
• Approximately 8–10 years of progressive accounting and finance experience.
• Experience managing accounting for $75-100 million revenues.
• Strong construction industry accounting experience, preferably within a general contractor, specialty contractor, or project-based construction business.
• Demonstrated expertise in percentage-of-completion accounting, WIP reporting, and revenue recognition for construction projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead all accounting and financial reporting activities for the division, ensuring accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end results.
• Oversee construction accounting, including POC revenue recognition, WIP schedules, underbillings, overbillings, and cost-to-complete calculations.
• Manage project-level job costing, tracking labor, materials, subcontractors, equipment, and other direct costs against budgets.
• Partner with project managers and operational leadership to monitor project performance, identify margin risks, and improve profitability.
• Analyze project estimates, cost forecasts, change orders, and projected final costs for accurate reporting and forecasting.
• Lead budgeting, cash flow forecasting, financial planning, and variance analysis for the division.
• Establish and maintain internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures aligned with corporate requirements.
• Support post-acquisition integration, including alignment of accounting processes, reporting, systems, and controls with the parent organization.
• Develop financial dashboards and management reports showing revenue, gross margins, backlog, working capital, and overall performance.
• Oversee AP/AR, billing, collections, GL, reconciliations, and month-end close; collaborate with corporate finance and leadership on strategic planning.
