Job summary

Devon Energy in Seattle seeks a Division Order Analyst to handle division orders and analyze oil and gas leases, contracts, and title ownership to ensure accurate, compliant asset records from initial production through the life of the well.

Under general supervision, you will build and maintain master ownership records, calculate division orders for all entitled owners, and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to improve data quality in land administration.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in energy management, business administration, or related discipline, or commensurate work experience.
  • 3+ years of relevant experience in division order processing, royalty calculations, land and lease management, or related field.
  • Experience reviewing leases, title opinions, contracts to determine interests and royalty provisions.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures effective administration of division order responsibilities relative to producing properties and performs analytical and revenue/royalty related activities from initial well production through the life of the well.
  • Works under general supervision, actively participates in change efforts within the Division Order team, and establishes relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Analyzes leases, title opinions, land agreements, and contracts to determine or confirm the company’s interests, royalty rates, payment provisions, and disbursing obligations on company operated producing properties as well as outside operated producing properties.
  • Establishes and maintains ownership records for persons legally entitled to the proceeds of oil and gas production through initial set up of the master ownership division of interest, calculates and prepares division orders for all owners legally entitled to the proceeds of oil and gas production, and processes all subsequent changes of the initial set up of the master ownership division of interest.
  • Develops understanding of business acumen, recommends modifications, and communicates effectively, sharing knowledge and actively identifying opportunities for data quality improvement within the land administration department.
  • Maintains and improves data quality as it relates to division of interest data within assigned geographic area.
  • Obtains pertinent documents for completion of the files and maintains existing files, monitors drilling reports and well status notices, and maintains file records containing leases, contracts, documents, maps, title, and related correspondence.
  • Responds to division order related inquiries related to assigned geographical area.
  • Evaluates and recommends solutions independently, assesses division order-specific risks, and demonstrates the ability to prioritize and complete assignments, contributing to collaborative, goal-oriented team efforts.
  • Ensures effective and timely administration of title/division order responsibilities in accordance with statutory payment requirements within assigned geographical area.

Job description

Basic Accountability

This position, working under general supervision, is responsible for handling matters related to division orders within a geographic area. The role reviews and analyzes oil and gas leases and related exploration and production contracts to ensure proper maintenance of these assets acquired by assigned division or geographic area, and maintains related digital files. The role involves maintaining record and equitable title ownership of producing properties in accordance with company policies and legal requirements.

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Energy Management, Business Administration or any other related discipline and/or commensurate work experience is required.

Experience

3+ years of relevant experience, preferably in areas such as Division Order processing, Royalty Calculations, Land and Lease Management, Contract Management, Title and Ownership Verification, or a related field.
