A growing structural steel fabrication and erection company is seeking a Division Manager to lead its Austin operation.

This is a true operating leadership role with responsibility for the performance and continued growth of the division. The Division Manager will oversee the people, projects, customers, financial performance, and day-to-day execution of the business while building the systems and leadership team necessary to support continued growth.

We are particularly interested in proven structural steel leaders as well as ascending operators who are ready for broader ownership of a business.

What You'll Lead
  • Full divisional operating performance, including revenue, profitability, budgeting, forecasting, and cost management
  • Structural steel fabrication and erection operations across multiple concurrent projects
  • Project management, field operations, scheduling, manpower, production, and execution
  • Development and accountability of project managers, superintendents, field leadership, and operational teams
  • Customer relationships with general contractors, owners, and other key project stakeholders
  • Estimating, project selection, change management, and commercial decision-making in partnership with company leadership
  • Safety, quality, productivity, and continuous improvement
  • Recruiting, developing, and retaining the people needed to support growth
  • Identification and execution of opportunities to improve margins, processes, capacity, and overall divisional performance
What We're Looking For

The strongest candidates will have built a meaningful portion of their careers in structural steel fabrication and/or erection and understand the realities of running project-driven steel operations.

You may currently be a:

  • Division Manager
  • General Manager
  • Operations Manager
  • Director of Operations
  • Area or Business Unit Manager
  • Senior Project or Operations Leader ready for broader responsibility

More important than title is evidence that you can lead people, understand the economics of the work, make sound operating decisions, hold teams accountable, and take ownership of results.

Ideal experience includes:

  • Leadership of multiple projects, teams, or operational functions
  • Understanding of project financials, margins, labor productivity, scheduling, and cost control
  • Experience developing PMs, superintendents, field leaders, and other operational talent
  • Strong customer and general-contractor relationships
  • Increasing responsibility throughout your career
  • The judgment and ambition to operate with significant autonomy

Direct P&L ownership is highly valued, but we will also consider an ascending steel leader who has demonstrated the capability to take the next step into full divisional ownership.

The Opportunity

For the right person, this is more than another construction-management position. It is an opportunity to take ownership of an established operation, lead a substantial team, influence how the business performs, and play an important role in its continued growth.

The position is based in the Austin, Texas area and requires regular presence with the team and operations.
