Job summary

The University of Maine is seeking an assistant coach for the Women’s Softball Program to support coaching, recruiting, and training at the Division I level. The role complies with University, Conference, and NCAA guidelines and offers a starting salary around $45,000, commensurate with experience.

The incumbent will assist with evaluating student-athletes, monitor academic progress, plan practices, handle travel logistics, and foster strong relationships with stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.
  • Excellent organizational, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to travel with a valid driver's license.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor & motivate student athletes.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in evaluating, identifying, recruiting, and retaining student-athletes for the Women’s Softball Program in accordance with NCAA guidelines.
  • Monitor academic progress, including advising, mentoring, and instructing as assigned.
  • Coordinate training and practice sessions and ensure safety guidelines are followed.
  • Assist with coordination of team travel and logistics.
  • Develop and maintain professional relationships reflecting courtesy and respect.
  • Build productive relationships with internal and external constituencies.
  • Identify opportunities to improve operations and recommend alternatives.
  • Support coaching methods that provide an anticipatory, supportive environment for feedback.
  • Serve as acting head coach in their absence.
