Job summary

Ensemble Performing Arts seeks an experienced Division Controller to own accounting operations for the Schools Business Unit, reporting to the Corporate Controller with dotted-line to the Business Unit President. Build scalable infrastructure, mentor accounting leaders, and partner with school leadership on seasonality, tuition billing, and recital revenue.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience with 3+ years in a controller or senior leadership role.
• Experience managing accounting across multi-entity, multi-state environments; education/arts sector experience is a strong plus.
• Strong US GAAP knowledge with ability to research and apply to non-standard transactions.
• Solid understanding of revenue recognition, particularly tuition/program fees and deferred revenue.
• Advanced NetSuite experience (ERP) including implementation or migration leadership.
• Prior M&A integration and purchase accounting experience.
• Mentoring and developing accounting staff and junior leaders.
• Ability to operate autonomously in a remote, fast-scaling environment.

Responsibilities

• Own accurate monthly and year-end closes across multiple school locations with full P&L and balance sheet accountability.
• Oversee tuition and enrollment-based revenue recognition, including deferred revenue for prepaid tuition and refunds.
• Supervise a remote accounting team and manage outsource relationships across GL and close.
• Review school-level financial statements and reconciliations for consolidation and control.
• Identify and resolve complex technical accounting issues and document conclusions.
• Design and monitor internal controls across assigned schools and tuition billing processes.
• Lead audit preparation activities and serve as primary contact for external auditors.
• Partner with Corporate Controller to standardize policies and documentation across Schools Division.
