Our client is looking for a hands‑on finance leader to help modernize and scale a financially strong business undergoing significant growth and integration activity. The ideal candidate brings manufacturing accounting expertise, particularly in standard costing, inventory, plant profitability, and operational finance, along with the leadership skills to build processes, implement controls, and drive improvements across multiple business units.
This is a highly visible role reporting directly to the CFO, offering the opportunity to shape financial operations, partner closely with manufacturing leadership, and play a key role in transforming a collection of established businesses into a more unified, process-driven organization.
Responsibilities
- Transform and strengthen the divisional accounting function by establishing scalable processes, improving data integrity and reporting, strengthen internal controls, and building a high‑performing accounting team capable of supporting the company’s growth and acquisition strategy.
- Own the financial close and reporting process for the U.S. division, including timely, accurate monthly financial statements and management reporting.
- Lead and develop the U.S. accounting team, establishing clear roles, accountability, controls, and standardized processes.
- Oversee accounting operations, including AP, AR, billing, cash management, project accounting, payroll and general ledger activities.
- Ensure compliance with US GAAP as applicable, tax requirements, and company accounting policies, while coordinating with corporate finance on consolidated reporting.
- Partner with Operations and Supply Chain to improve manufacturing performance and profitability, including cost controls, inventory accuracy, production efficiency and margin improvement.
- Manage intercompany accounting and cross-border transactions between the U.S. and Canadian entities, including appropriate transfer‑pricing and consolidation support.
- Own balance sheet integrity, including reconciliations, accruals, reserves, aging, and resolution of historical accounting issues.
- Oversee manufacturing cost accounting, including standard costing, inventory valuations, product costing, and analysis of material, labor, overhead, and production variances.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management and consolidated reporting in partnership with FP&A and corporate finance.
- Drive standardization and automation of accounting processes, reducing reliance on spreadsheets and manual processes across the U.S. division.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting; CPA preferred
- 8+ years of progressive experience, including senior accounting leadership experience
- Strong manufacturing and cost accounting experience, including standard costing, inventory, variance analysis, and product profitability
- Strong ERP experience and demonstrated ability to improve systems, reporting, and accounting processes
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel
- Hands‑on, solutions‑oriented leader who can balance attention to detail with a broader business perspective
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to build trust, establish accountability, and influence cross‑functional teams
