Job summary

California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES) is seeking a Manager II to lead the Compliance & Special Projects Unit (CSPU) and the Employee Performance Unit (EPU) within the Employee Services Branch. This role plans, directs, and manages workloads and improves processes while ensuring effective knowledge transfer and documentation.

The position offers a hybrid work schedule and may require irregular hours during emergency operations.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of and experience with HR laws, rules, practices, policies and procedures.
• Experience in progressive discipline processes and documentation.
• Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills with executive management and diverse stakeholders.
• Strong leadership skills with staff supervision and development experience.
• Ability to manage fast-paced workloads, meet deadlines, balance priorities, and exercise sound judgment.
• Willingness to delegate tasks while ensuring timely, quality outputs.
• Proven ability to provide excellent customer service.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
