Job summary

The NC Department of Transportation (NCDOT) is seeking a Division Safety Consultant for Division 13 in Buncombe County. You will evaluate safety engineering controls, conduct investigations, audits, and training, and monitor environmental and safety standards across construction sites.

Expect to interpret OSHA standards, manage safety programs, and develop corrective actions. Strong communication and computer skills are required, with travel between sites and departments as needed.

Qualifications

• Extensive knowledge of OSHA regulations applicable to general industry and construction.
• Ability to analyze injury trends and provide strategic recommendations.
• Proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint and basic database software.

Responsibilities

• Provide safety support to Division 13, including safety engineering controls and audits.
• Conduct accident investigations, program auditing, recordkeeping and training.
• Perform industrial hygiene surveys and monitoring, and emergency planning.
• Interpret safety laws, standards and codes and communicate findings clearly.
