Job summary

Chicago Public Schools (CPS) seeks a Diverse Learners Teacher to support students with diverse learning needs under the supervision of the school principal. The role includes instruction, progress tracking and discipline of students in assigned classes, with responsibilities aligned to CPS guidelines.

The position requires collaborating with case managers, counselors and general education teachers to plan instruction and meet IEP goals, while promoting equity, safety and inclusive practices

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution.
• Valid Illinois teaching license with LBS1 endorsement (ISBE).
• Complete CPS online application and teaching profile at cps.edu/teach.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate deep understanding of content and pedagogy to design learning objectives, instruction and assessments.
• Create a respectful classroom culture with strong classroom management.
• Respond to diverse student needs with engaging, appropriately challenging instruction and assessments.
• Exhibit strong communication and interpersonal skills in interactions with administration, colleagues, families and students.
• Prioritize student safety through adherence to the Student Code of Conduct and school-wide discipline systems.
• Personalize learning using curriculum resources and technology where available.
• Advocate for CPS vision and equity-focused educational practices.
