Job summary

Herscher Unit 2 District-Wide in Herscher, Illinois seeks a Substitute Paraprofessional to support students with disabilities across multiple settings. You will work closely with Special Services staff and building principals to implement instructional support, supervise students, and reinforce classroom routines.

Qualifications include an Associate’s Degree or completion of 60 college hours or passing the ParaPro Assessment.

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree or 60 semester hours or ParaPro Assessment.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills for interaction with teachers, staff and the public.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and assist with self-care tasks.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate instructional efforts with classroom teachers.
• Prepare lesson materials, bulletin boards, displays and demonstrations.
• Present subject matter under guidance, using lectures or supervised activities.
• Maintain a supportive relationship with students and avoid over-involvement.
• Supervise students in classrooms, hallways, cafeterias, yards, and on field trips.
• Teach or demonstrate skills such as sports, crafts, or other activities.
• Distribute materials, collect assignments and enforce school rules.
• Assist the teacher in maintaining a professional classroom environment.
