Job summary

Portland Public Schools is seeking an Itinerant Pre-K Special Education Teacher to support Pre-K students across multiple sites in Maine. The role emphasizes direct instruction and coaching, delivering specially designed instruction aligned with IEP goals and collaborating with educators, Education Technicians, and related service providers.

You will travel between district locations, maintain records, monitor student progress, and help build inclusive practices within general education settings

Qualifications

• Strong background in early childhood development and inclusive practices.
• Ability to coach and support adults in implementing instructional strategies.
• Experience collaborating with families and multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialized instruction aligned with students' IEPs in Pre-K settings.
• Plan and implement individualized and small-group instruction targeting developmental and early academic skills.
• Develop and modify instructional plans to meet diverse needs.
• Create engaging learning environments that promote independence and inclusion.
• Consult and coach classroom teachers and related staff to support IEP goals.
• Monitor student progress and adjust instruction based on data.
• Maintain records and ensure compliance with timelines and IDEA/state regulations.
• Build partnerships with families and communicate effectively with stakeholders.
