Job summary

Krum ISD is seeking qualified substitute teachers to support district-wide learning. Substitutes must hold a valid teaching certificate and will implement lesson plans, supervise students, and maintain classroom order in alignment with district policies.

Responsibilities include using varied instructional strategies, collaborating with teachers to adapt lessons, and documenting attendance and incidents. Training and district guidelines apply, with emphasis on safety and student growth.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or GED, plus some college hours or an associate degree.
• Knowledge of the core academic subjects assigned and of curriculum/instruction.
• Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior effectively.
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Experience working with Title I schools and diverse student populations; applicants from diverse backgrounds encouraged.
• Experience managing groups of students and providing instruction or related work experience.

Responsibilities

• Implement lesson plans and instructional activities provided by the absent teacher or designated staff.
• Use instructional strategies and materials that reflect students' learning styles and the assigned subject matter.
• Work with teachers to modify curriculum as needed or noted in lesson plans.
• Submit attendance and maintain classroom records per district procedures.
• Maintain a safe, orderly classroom conducive to learning and protect students, equipment, and facilities.
• Supervise students at all times and follow the Student Code of Conduct.
• Leave notes or complete substitute reports at the end of the day and report any incidents.
• Communicate in a friendly, positive manner with students, parents, staff and administrators.
