Job summary

The Oxnard School District is seeking an experienced District Translator for a full-time, 12-month position. The role requires professional-level written translation and real-time interpretation for high-stakes educational and legal communications.

Responsibilities include simultaneous and consecutive interpretation during IEP meetings and district events, translating confidential documents, and ensuring accuracy of translations before dissemination.

Qualifications

• Two years' full-time experience translating English and the designated second language with interpretation.
• Three years in a role requiring bilingualism in the designated second language.
• Bachelor's degree or Translation/Interpretation certificate may substitute for one year of experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide simultaneous and consecutive interpretation, and sight translation for IEP meetings, conferences, hearings, interviews, and other district meetings.
• Translate highly technical and confidential documents, including IEPs, legal/legislative documents, and board policies.
• Interpret terminology used by school psychologists, speech-language pathologists, nurses, attorneys, and educational administrators.
• Review and proof translations for accuracy before public distribution.
