Job summary

Newark Public Schools is seeking a Supervisor of Social Studies to lead curriculum, instruction, and assessment district-wide. You will coach department chairs and teachers and oversee professional development and evaluation processes.

Requirements include a Master's degree, valid NJ Social Studies certificate, and several years in social studies teaching and district leadership. Reports to the Director of Social Studies; salary range $107,500–$143,500 with comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

Master's degree from an accredited college or university.
New Jersey Department of Education Principal Standard (Preferred) and/or Supervisor Standard license.
Valid New Jersey Social Studies Teaching Certificate.
Minimum of three (3) years of district-level administration experience; four (4) years teaching Social Studies.
Knowledge of New Jersey Student Learning Standards for curriculum, assessment, and instruction.
Strong knowledge of subject and teaching methods.

Responsibilities

Observe, coach, and evaluate Teachers and Department Chairs, with ongoing professional development.
Provide feedback to Principals and Department Chairs on planning, assessment, and student engagement.
Monitor Educator Effectiveness activities and evaluate Department Chairs and teachers.
Lead Social Studies curriculum development, resources, and district-wide assessments.
Collaborate to align curriculum with State Standards and ensure learning outcomes.
