Brooklyn Guernsey Malcom Community School District seeks a District Social Media Specialist to craft and manage the district’s digital voice. You will develop, execute, and refine a comprehensive social media and content plan that highlights student achievements, engages families, and supports district goals.

The role requires creating multimedia content, managing channels, monitoring feedback, and ensuring FERPA compliance and accessibility standards.

Qualifications

• Education: Informal or formal training/experience in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Digital Media, Marketing, or a related field.
• Experience: Managing organizational social media accounts. Experience in K-12 education, higher education, or the public sector is highly preferred.
• Technical Skills: Experience with audio recording and capturing
• Proficiency with AI Video and Image Creation, Adobe Creative Cloud (Illustrator, Photoshop, Premiere), or Canva skills.
• Experience using social media management software.
• Familiarity with website CMS and basic HTML.
• Soft Skills: Impeccable writing, editing, and proofreading skills. Ability to translate complex educational initiatives into easily digestible content for the general public.
• Local Knowledge: Familiarity with the BGM educational landscape, local media markets, and the values of the surrounding community.

Responsabilités

• Capture the District: Travel between district school buildings to capture high-quality photos, videos, and interviews featuring students, teachers, and staff.
• Multimedia Production: Design graphics, edit short-form video (Reels/TikToks/YouTube Shorts), and write copy tailored to social platforms.
• Brand Management: Maintain a consistent brand voice and visual identity across digital communications.
• Channel Management: Administer the district’s official social media channels and monitor activity.
• Community Engagement: Respond to inquiries and route issues to district leadership.
• Analytics & Reporting: Track engagement metrics, reach, and audience growth.
• Develop Strategies: Increase reach, viewership, and engagement.
• Crisis & Urgent Communications: Support rapid updates during weather events or emergencies.
