District Sign Specialist help keep Louisiana’s roads and bridges safe by performing the duties related to the complete installation and maintenance of highway signs throughout the District on all state and federal routes including urban and rural areas.
No experience is required — training is provided, with opportunities for career progression. Possession of a current Class D Chauffeur's License required.
This is an outdoor, physically active role that may involve varying weather conditions, shift work, night work, overtime, travel, or emergency call‑outs depending on assignment.
Positions are located in Ouachita Parish, District 05/Unit 750 and report to a Highway Foreman 2 or a District Sign Specialist Leader.

Position-Specific Details:
Career Progression: This position may be filled as District Sign Specialist 1 or District Sign Specialist 2, based on qualifications and agency needs.
Certain levels may require a valid Louisiana Class “D” Chauffeur’s License or CDL prior to permanent appointment or start date, depending on assignment.
This position may be filled as either a probational appointment (open to all qualified applicants); a promotion (open to all statewide classified and Agency‑wide permanent status employees); or by detail to special duty.
