Job summary

TrulyHired is seeking a District Special Services Counselor to provide specialized counseling and behavioral support for students with disabilities across the district. The role collaborates with school staff, families, and community agencies to address social, emotional, behavioral, and mental health needs while ensuring compliance with IDEA and other regulations.

The position requires a Master’s degree in School Counseling and valid SC School Counselor Certification, with 3–5 years of school

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in School Counseling from an accredited institution.
  • Valid South Carolina School Counselor Certification.
  • 3–5 years of school counseling experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide individual and group counseling for students in special education services.
  • Support emotional regulation, social skills, self-advocacy, coping strategies, and positive peer relationships.
  • Use evidence-based counseling practices to address social-emotional and behavioral concerns.
  • Monitor student progress and adjust interventions as needed.
  • Serve as active member of IEP teams and assist in developing goals and accommodations.
  • Provide data and recommendations on students’ social, emotional, and behavioral functioning.
  • Respond to crises and coordinate follow-up services as needed.
  • Consult with teachers and administrators on behavioral interventions and supports.
  • Coordinate referrals with families and community providers.
