Job summary

Weber School District is seeking a Human Resources Specialist to administer FMLA, parental leave, ADA accommodations, and disability benefits, while supporting HR Directors with presentations and reports. The role requires effective communication, thorough understanding of employment laws, and strong data management.

The position is 250 days with 8 hours per day, scheduling includes occasional wellness events and travel within the district. Immediate start date and an open posting until filled.

Qualifications

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required; a Bachelor's degree preferred in Human Resources or a business-related field.
  • Proficiency in Google Suite, Canva, HRIS systems, and benefits administration software.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment, including copiers and multi-line telephone systems.
  • Prior experience in Human Resources or a related role.
  • Strong understanding of FMLA, ADA, PWFA, employee benefits laws, regulations, Utah State paid parental leave, and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex benefits concepts to employees at all levels.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Experience in auditing, analyzing benefits programs, and providing strategic insights.

Responsibilities

  • Administer and Manage: FMLA, parental leave, ADA accommodations, workers' compensation leave, and district retirement benefits.
  • Payroll Auditing: Coordinate with the payroll team to ensure employees on FMLA, parental leave, STD, LTD, and workers' compensation are paid appropriately.
  • Enrollment Management: Assist the HR ESP Coordinator with open enrollment, benefit fairs, and presentations.
  • Employee Support: Serve as the primary point of contact for employee inquiries related to employee leaves, accommodations, and benefits, providing guidance, resolving issues, and addressing concerns in a timely and professional manner.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations governing employment laws, including but not limited to HIPAA, ADA, FMLA, PWFA, workers' compensation, and paid parental leave.
  • Communication: Develop and distribute communication materials to educate employees about FMLA, ADA, paid parental leave, and other relevant information.
  • Data Management: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of employee FMLA, ADA, paid parental leave, workers' compensation, and other relevant information.
  • Analysis & Auditing: Assist the Human Resources Director in conducting audits of employee leaves, claims, and program costs to ensure accuracy, compliance, and cost-effectiveness. Analyze trends in usage and costs, and prepare reports that provide strategic insights into the effectiveness of benefits offerings.
  • Wellness Program: Assist the Human Resources Director and HR ESP Coordinator with the coordination of wellness activities. This position requires working occasional Saturdays to assist with wellness events.
  • Strategic Recommendations: Based on audit findings and analysis, develop and present recommendations to improve the overall benefits program, focusing on cost optimization, employee satisfaction, and alignment with organizational goals.
  • Training and Education: Provide training and support to HR colleagues and employees on FMLA, ADA, parental leave, retirement, and other related topics, including self-service tools and resources.

This position will coordinate FMLA, Paid Parental leave, ADA, Short-Term Disability, and Long-Term Disability. They will also provide support to the HR Directors by preparing and organizing presentations, documents, and reports.

Job Description: As a Human Resources Specialist, you will be responsible for administering and managing employee FMLA, paid parental leave, ADA, short-term disability, and long-term disability. You will play a key role in ensuring that employees understand their FMLA, ADA, workers' compensation, and employer-paid benefits; assisting them with inquiries or issues; and coordinating with insurance providers or third-party administrators to ensure smooth administration of employer-paid benefits.   • Assist in the preparation and distribution of documents, presentations, and other materials.
  • Address employee inquiries regarding FMLA, ADA accommodations, parental leave, retirement, workers' compensation, and other related topics in a timely manner.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • This position requires travel to different schools and buildings throughout the district.

Attendance is an Essential Function of this Position

  • Physical presence at the worksite is an essential function of this position. The role requires in-person collaboration, direct interaction with team members, other staff, students, and/or guardians, and access to on-site equipment and resources.
Other Functions
  • Assists other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities.
