POSITION: District Math Coach (Elementary)
WORK YEAR: 184 days (teachers contract)
REPORTS TO: Assistant Superintendents
COORDINATES WITH: Teachers, Specialists, and other educators
SALARY: $44,200-$93,938 Teacher Bargaining Unit salary and benefits - Contractual

OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES:
The mathematics coach increases teachers’ understanding of the mathematics curriculum and increases instructional knowledge and skills of teachers in the area of mathematics through a variety of reflective and job-embedded professional development activities. The mathematics coach supports the district goal of increasing the academic performance of all students in mathematics.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Create a math environment conducive to effective instruction.
• Work with district administration and principals to determine math needs in order to improve students’ skills across mathematical domains.
• Evaluate math needs and collaborate with teachers and administrators to interpret assessment results. Use assessment data to improve instruction.
• Coach teachers in effective instructional strategies.
• Assist in the coordination and delivery of district-wide professional development, including New Teacher Orientation.
• Continue professional growth and strengthen professional teaching knowledge, skills, and strategies through an on-going program of workshops, seminars, conferences, and job-embedded activities for self and teaching staff.
• Assumes other special activities and/or responsibilities as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Meets New Hampshire certification requirements for elementary and/or middle school teaching
• Masters degree in reading, math, or related field preferred
• Minimum of three years of successful K – 12 classroom teaching experience
• Successful experience in facilitating adult learners
• Demonstrated pursuit of continuous learning
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills required.
