Job summary

Komatsu America Corp. seeks a District Manager to oversee the one-to-five-distributor network in Mississippi. You will drive growth in construction, mining and key accounts, manage budgets for support funds, and coordinate with internal teams to deliver equipment and technology solutions.

Qualifications

  • Four-year college degree in Business or Marketing (advanced education and mechanical/technical aptitude preferred).
  • 6–8 years of construction industry experience, preferably with full-line manufacturer or distributor.
  • Strong marketing concepts, SWOT, 4 P’s, sales process management, and program development.

Responsibilities

  • Manage one to five distributors in Mississippi.
  • Grow sales and profitability for construction, mining, and national/regional accounts.
  • Budget and allocate funds for distributor support and special programs.
  • Coordinate with Komatsu departments for cross-functional support.
  • Provide product and application knowledge to support segment sales.
  • Promote aftermarket, finance, technology, and digital product offerings.
  • Advise stakeholders on market trends and best practices.
  • Travel up to 70% including overnight; manage travel expenses.
  • Apply the Komatsu Way principles in daily activities.

Job Overview

The District Manager is directly responsible for the whole goods sale of Komatsu product to the distributor network.The DM manages specific territory of distribution in all aspects regarding manufacturer support. Responsible for market share growth, business planning, forecasting and sales execution. Other business practices include project-based initiatives and both retail & wholesale program advancement. Main objective is to provide distribution and end-use customers with the equipment and technology required for their respective businesses, while focusing on growth and profitability for all stakeholders.

Key Job Responsibilities
  • The DM is responsible for one to five distributors in the state of Mississippi.
  • Responsible for the continued growth and development of construction, mining and national or regional account customers, building strong relationships for achievement of increased sales and profitability.
  • Required to manage budget of support funds and special program dollars to execute sales to end-use customers.
  • Assists the distributor in navigating all Komatsu departments for support and general information. This dynamic role extends beyond singular responsibilities.
  • Fulfill requests for product and application knowledge to support segment sales.
  • Promote all initiatives of the company regarding aftermarket, finance, technology, and digital product offerings.
  • Serve as consultant to both internal and external stakeholders for market awareness, industry trends, and best practices sharing.
  • Manages monthly travel expenses derived from supporting customers and distributors.
  • Must be able to apply the Komatsu Way principles where applicable in their everyday work activities.
Qualifications/Requirements
  • Four-year college degree, preferably in Business or Marketing. Advanced formal education and mechanical/technical aptitude preferred.
  • Construction industry work experience, preferably with a full-line manufacturer or distributor. Minimum of 6-8 years of experience.
  • Management skills acquired through college education and/or work experience.
  • Proven ability in marketing concepts and techniques: SWOT analysis, "4 P’s", sales process management, marketing program development, etc.
  • Analytical/statistical capacity for reviewing sales trends and inventory performance.
  • Basic financial analysis to understand ratios, ROI, P&L statements, etc.
  • Negotiating skills, typically acquired through seminars and/or work experience.
  • Komatsu product knowledge on machine configurations and applications, acquired through internal training and/or work experience.
  • Basic knowledge of mine operations, as well as understanding of field application engineering, with the ability to assimilate and utilize technical product knowledge.
  • Must be willing to travel overnight up to 70% of the time. Some weekend travel required.
Additional Information

Participation in company sponsored show is required on an as needed basis. Examples of such shows are: Chattanooga Field Days and Con-Expo. This participation in such shows includes, but is not limited to: Answering questions regarding KAC product, operational procedures of KAC machines, show preparation and clean-up.


Other duties as required by the company.
