Subdued is seeking a hands-on District Manager to lead two New York stores with a third opening soon, and to help prepare for broader U.S. expansion including Florida. This role requires frequent travel and close collaboration with executive leadership to build scalable processes.

You will mentor store leaders, drive performance, and shape the culture as the brand grows across the United States.

This is more than a traditional District Manager role. You'll initially oversee our two New York stores, with a third location opening soon, while helping prepare for our expansion into Florida and additional markets across the U.S.

Position Summary

We are seeking a hands-on, high-energy District Manager who is early in their multi-unit leadership career and eager to grow alongside the business. You'll partner closely with company leadership to establish operational excellence, develop store leaders, and support new store openings as we continue expanding throughout the United States.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys rolling up their sleeves, solving problems, traveling to where the business needs them, and helping shape the future of our retail organization.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & People

• Lead, coach, and develop Store Managers to deliver exceptional business results.
• Build strong, engaged teams focused on customer experience and brand standards.
• Identify and develop future leaders through coaching, succession planning, and performance management.
• Foster a positive, accountable, and high-performance culture.

Business Operations

• Drive sales performance and profitability across multiple locations.
• Analyze KPIs and implement action plans to improve results.
• Ensure operational consistency, inventory accuracy, loss prevention, and compliance with company policies.
• Conduct regular store visits and provide meaningful feedback and coaching.

Growth & Expansion

• Support new store openings from recruitment through launch.
• Partner with cross-functional teams during expansion projects.
• Help establish scalable operational processes as the U.S. business grows.
• Be flexible and willing to travel wherever the business requires.

Brand & Customer Experience

• Ensure every store delivers an elevated customer experience aligned with the Subdued brand.
• Maintain exceptional visual merchandising and operational standards.
• Partner with leadership to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.

What We're Looking For

• 2-5 years of multi-unit retail leadership experience (District Manager, Area Manager, or similar leadership role).
• Strong background in fashion or specialty retail.
• Proven ability to coach and develop high-performing Store Managers.
• Comfortable working in a fast-changing, entrepreneurial environment.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Strong business acumen with the ability to analyze sales and operational metrics.
• Willingness to travel frequently, including future travel outside of New York as new markets open.
• Passion for building teams and helping grow a rapidly expanding business.
