Job summary

Ector County Independent School District is seeking a Director of Information Technology in Odessa, TX. The role reports to the Chief Technology Officer and leads the Technology department to deliver reliable access to information and technology across campuses and administrative offices.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree, strong cybersecurity expertise, project management experience, and proven leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• College degree and/or certifications preferred or equivalent on the job training or work experience.
• Knowledge of cybersecurity principles, risk management, and data privacy compliance requirements.
• Ability to manage personnel; coordinate district function.
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and ensure the district-wide network infrastructure plan is implemented successfully.
• Direct district cybersecurity practices, including risk assessment, incident response, and staff awareness training.
• Develop and oversee disaster recovery and cybersecurity incident response plans.
• Develop and update a five-year Information Technology plan each year using campus and district feedback.
• Oversee contract negotiations for network hardware, software, maintenance, and services.
• Manage replacement cycles for district network infrastructure equipment.
• Partner with campus and district leaders to align technology support with needs.
• Lead staff training and performance plans to ensure exemplary operations in information management and technology.
• Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate department personnel.
