The State of Vermont is seeking a District Facilities Manager to oversee multiple locations in the Southeast Region. This role involves administrative planning, maintenance oversight, and budget assessments, requiring strong supervisory experience. With a focus on ensuring proper staffing and managing expenditures, the position offers diverse responsibilities in both office and field settings.
The Department of Buildings and General Services (BGS) at the State of Vermont is seeking a District Facilities Manager (DFM) to oversee the Southeast Region. This is a multi-faceted position that will be responsible for administrative, planning, maintenance and supervisory work at several locations within the district. The incumbent is expected to coordinate assignments, oversee preventative maintenance and smaller scale construction projects. The DFM will be responsible for providing assessments and recommendations during the budget planning process for their district. Additionally, the incumbent will ensure that staffing levels for all shifts are appropriately met and will manage staff expenditures such as overtime, training, mileage and expense reports. The DFM will travel to various facilities within the district and should be prepared to respond when emergencies occur. Previous supervisory experience is required for this position.
This position could be based in Randolph, White River, or Springfield. The position will travel throughout the SE District which runs from Randolph to Brattleboro, and a state vehicle will be provided.

Work is performed in both office and field settings, outdoors and inside buildings. Manual dexterity may be needed to operate equipment and use tools. Incumbents must be able to respond anytime when emergencies occur. Incumbents may be required to lift moderate to heavy weights. Travel to various locations may require private means of transportation. Work in all types of weather can be expected. Wastewater systems and confined spaces are common throughout each district and are hazardous (disease, ventilation, and entrapment issues) and the Facilities Manager must be able to access, evaluate, and assist in these areas. Entering areas immediately after flooding, fires, and other natural and man-made disasters are essential for evaluation. Correctional, Mental Health, and Lab Facilities include infectious disease, risk of assault, mental abuse, and cross contamination of evidence issues.
Bachelor's degree AND four (4) or more years in building or plant maintenance and repair work INCLUDING three (3) or more as a supervisor.
OR
Associate degree AND six (6) or more years in building or plant maintenance and repair work INCLUDING three (3) or more as a supervisor.
OR
High School diploma, trade school graduation or equivalent AND eight (8) or more years in building or plant maintenance and repair work INCLUDING three (3) or more as a supervisor.
A degree or coursework in construction, architectural or engineering or closely related.
