Job summary

Prosecuting Attorneys Association of Michigan seeks an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney for the Paw Paw office. You will represent the People of Michigan in district court and assist in prosecutions, focusing on timely and fair proceedings.

Primary assignment is the 7th District Court in Paw Paw, with duties including reviewing warrants, handling district court cases, and supporting police investigations. Background checks and drug screen required; prior prosecutorial experience preferred but not

Qualifications

• Prior prosecutorial experience preferred but not required.
• Knowledge of and adherence to applicable rules of professional conduct.
• Legal research and writing ability.
• Public speaking ability.
• Familiarity with United States and Michigan Constitutions.
• Knowledge of applicable case law, statutes, court rules, and rules of evidence.
• Ability to think logically.
• Ability to objectively analyze and evaluate facts and issues to form impartial judgments.
• Public relations skills and ability to work cooperatively with others.
• Ability to willingly take direction from others and make application to assignments.
• Willingness and ability to be flexible and help others as a good team member.

Responsibilities

• Represent Van Buren County as an appointed Assistant Prosecuting Attorney.
• Primarily assigned to the 7th District Court in Paw Paw, Michigan.
• Review and screen warrant requests for authorization.
• Handle all matters prosecuted in the district courts including hearings, conferences and trials.
• May be tasked with participation in a specialty treatment court.
• Assist and counsel various police agencies in matters involving criminal investigations and review of search warrants.
• May also be required to handle a circuit court level felony trial on a case by case basis.
