Job summary

Denver Public Schools is seeking a Senior Administrator in Accounting to manage the daily operations of the General Accounting department and oversee internal controls in a GAAP-compliant manner. You will report to the Chief Financial Officer and contribute to a values-driven culture focused on Students First, Integrity, Equity, Collaboration, Accountability and Fun.

The role requires 5+ years of senior accounting experience, a strong leadership track record, and the ability to translate data

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance or related field.
• 5+ years as Senior Administrator in accounting, auditing, budgeting, or financial planning.
• Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations.
• Experience analyzing data to improve processes and inform strategy.
• Strong facilitation and communication skills.
• Proven leadership and ability to lead a high-performing team.
• Capability to mentor and coach staff.
• Strategic planning and organizational development knowledge.
• Ability to set goals and manage resources.

Responsibilities

• Plan, assign and supervise work in accounting areas per policy and laws.
• Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
• Provide financial analysis to guide decision-making and alignment with district goals.
• Collaborate with school admins to prepare and manage the annual budget.
• Monitor expenditures and revenues to align with budgets.
• Foster collaborative and ethical work environment.
• Ensure staff compensation, vendor payments, revenue collection comply with policies.
• Coordinate external and internal audits and address findings.
• Establish and enforce internal control policies to safeguard assets.
